While many of us love to entertain, very few know the right way. Have you
ever noticed that a house without flower simply lacks the elegance that a home with that
extra touch exudes? Flower and candles -- these are two accessories that can change the
ambience of an evening.
Its time to celebrate your gardens by inviting friends to a party that is different from a Delhi wannabe night with fairy lights hanging from the foliage making them look like ugly intrusions. Or even the wannabe Mumbai parties either, where everyone pretends they are in California and overlooks the fact that every garden needs working on. The type of parties I am talking about are were the guest's is floored by style in simplicity. It's not about taking out your gold plated dinner set.
It's about presenting an entire look. Use your favorite dinner set if you like, but
accompany it with delicately embroidered serviettes and a center table flower arrangement
to enhance its delicacy.
CHOOSE A THE The theme should reflect the season, or may simply depend on an occasion; birthday, wedding, anniversary, graduation etc. You may even want to invent the theme to make it an extra
special evening: in Victorian times, Hawaiian, Caribbean, Greek or the French Rivera. The
thing is to choose a menu, decoration and music to accentuate your theme.
REPARING THE BUFFET
Decorate the tables and the buffet and the tables in harmony with the chosen theme. Preferably use round tables, except for the
buffet. Keep the parasols and sunscreens close to the tables.
Prepare the table settings in advance. Layout
silverware, cups glasses and napkin salt and pepper sets. If you are serving the complete
meal, place the menu on the table so the guest knows what is on the buffet.
Suddenly, your parties will be the talk of the
town
TIP
Send out personally designed invitation card in
accordance with the theme.
PREPARING THE GARDEN
Always think of an alternative place in the
case of bad weather. Also think decor involves a bit of research. Ask your best
friend to help out. This way you will be able to involve people, making it a more
personnalised event. It is important that the lawn is well kept and filled with flowers.
If there are no flowers growing there at the time of party, decorate the garden with
bouquets in pots. You may want to go a step future and decorate the swiping pool or pond
with little boats filled with flowers. Lighting is another factor that makes all the
difference for a party going until late evening. Simple torches along the path and in the
trees can create dramatic effects. Other forms of light which influence the mood are
candles on the table or floating in the pool or the pond and the Chinese lantern hanging
on the trees.
